A 2-year-old East Friesian sheep imported from Australia exhibited severe anemia after contagious pustular dermatitis in Hokkaido, Japan. Hemoplasma infection was confirmed in blood smears. Both Mycoplasma ovis and ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma haemovis’ were detected by PCR and sequence analyses. In the epidemiological analysis, dual pathogens were detected in 6 of 12 (50.0%) sheep imported from Australia with the infected ewe at the same time, 1 of 5 (20.0%) sheep introduced from a domestic farm in Hokkaido, and in 1 of 16 (6.3%) sheep from an epidemiologically unrelated ranch. It is the first clinical case of sheep to confirm coinfection of these pathogens in Japan.

Case report of osteomyelitis of the mandible in osteopetrosis and management considerations ArchiMer
Allal, Sarah; Rabuel, Valentin; Gengler, Charline; Douchet, Catherine; Allal, Francois; Zwetyenga, Narcisse.
Introduction and importance Osteopetrosis is a poorly known and probably underdiagnosed pathology. It is caused by various genetic abnormalities resulting in osteoclast dysfunction. Functional and aesthetic consequences have a major impact on the patient’s quality of life. Ten percent of osteopetrosis cases develop osteomyelitis that usually involves the mandible. Management of this complication remains complex and often unsatisfactory. Case presentation We report a case of a 62-year-old woman with osteopetrosis, complicated by mandibular osteomyelitis with intra-oral bone exposure and submental fistulas. Management was performed with antibiotic therapy and surgical necrotic resection. This cured the fistulas but the bone exposure persisted. Discussion...

The 18p tetrasomy is a structural chromosomal abnormality with the presence of an extra isochromosome 18p, caused by a nondisjunction failure during maternal meiosis II. This additional i(18p) occurs in 1 of 180,000 live-born children worldwide, affecting males and females equally. It is characterized by craniofacial dysmorphisms; ears, nose and throat (ENT) abnormalities; musculoskeletal alterations; and global development delay. We aim to present the clinical and cytogenetic findings of a 3-year-10-month-old Latin American male with i(18p), to support the gene dosage effects, comparing his features with the ones reported in literature. This patient was product of the second pregnancy of a 39-year-old woman and the first son of a 49-year-old man. His main...

Lichen planus with multiple system involvement including the mouth, vagina, urethra, and scalp: a case report BJMBR
Mi,Lan; Zhang,Hong; Zhang,Dai; Zhang,Miao.
This is a case report of lichen planus (LP) with multiple system involvement. A 35-year-old female patient was admitted in November 2014 with a 5-year history of painful/difficult sexual intercourse and loss of oral mucosa, and an 8-year history of focal hair loss. Earlier, the patient had been unable to adhere to corticosteroid therapy because of severe adverse side effects. In September 2014, labia minora mucosa defects and stricture of the urethral orifice (with dysuria), vaginal orifice, and vagina were identified. Biopsy was performed and a diagnosis of erosive LP was made. The patient was treated with an oral immunosuppressant (cyclosporine A) and urethral/vaginal dilatation. Urine flow rate and sex life were improved after 6 months and she...

Mycobacterium marinum infection: a case report J. Venom. Anim. Toxins incl. Trop. Dis.
Sette,Christiane Salgado; Wachholz,Patrick Alexander; Masuda,Paula Yoshiko; Figueira,Renata Borges Fortes da Costa; Mattar,Fernanda Rodrigues de Oliveira; Ura,Deise Godoy.
AbstractThe infection by Mycobacterium marinum in humans is relatively uncommon. When it occurs, it mainly affects the skin, usually with a chronic, indolent and benign evolution. The diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion, and a significant delay may be observed between the first symptoms to the final diagnosis. This present case reports a M. marinum infection in an immunocompetent patient that had a chronic undiagnosed injury on the dominant hand for at least five years. The patient had several medical consultations, without proper suspicion, hampering adequate diagnostic investigation. Histopathology detected tuberculoid granulomas, but showed no acid-fast bacilli. The culture in appropriate medium and the polymerase chain reaction-restriction...

Paragonimiasis: first case reported in Brazil BJID
Lemos,Antônio Carlos Moreira; Coelho,João Carlos; Matos,Eliana Dias; Montal,Guilherme; Aguiar,Fernanda; Badaró,Roberto.
The authors present a case from a 59 years old white female Brazilian patient, based in Salvador-Bahia, Brazil's northeastern side area, who experienced irritative cough and progressive dyspnea, and, after 18 months, was admitted to a hospital with respiratory insufficiency. The physical exam showed diffuse rales in both hemithoraces. Initial leukogram showed 14,400 cells/mL with 14% of eosinophils and chest X-ray showed peribronchovascular infiltrate, predominating in the lower half of the lung fields, and small opaque nodules. The high-resolution computed tomography scan of the chest (HRCT) presented compatible pattern with airways disease, especially from the small airways, with air trapping, tree sprouting images, central lobular nodules and...

T-cell lymphoma with rhabdomyolysis: case report and literature review BJMBR
Ouyang,Zhao-Zhong; Peng,Ting-Sheng; Cao,Qing-Hua; Ouyang,Yin; Li,Jun-Xun; Wei,Qiu-Xiang; Zhan,Hong.
Rhabdomyolysis refers to the destruction or disintegration of striated muscles. This syndrome is characterized by muscle breakdown and necrosis, resulting in the leakage of intracellular muscle constituents into the circulation and extracellular fluid. We report a rare case of rhabdomyolysis complicating multi-organ failure caused by T-cell lymphoma in a 32-year-old woman. The final diagnosis was rhabdomyolysis caused by peripheral T-cell lymphoma based on bone marrow aspirate and biopsy.
